The digital era is the fifth generation of societal trends, combining hunting, agrarian, industrial, and information societies. It creates new services, values, and ways of life, utilizing Artificial Intelligent (AI) to analyze and return information to humans in real-world forms. This era adds value to industries and societies previously impossible for humans.

The global legal system must adapt to this era, as it provides no exemptions in human life. How will the Shafi’i school of thought respond to this era? Should The Shafi’i school of thought adapt or remain silent? To address the issues mentioned above, the Mazhab Syafi’i Research Centre, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), is pleased to announce the organization of an International Conference that will discuss contemporary topics relevant to the theme of this conference in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) with the theme Mazhab Syafi’i in the Digital Era: Relevance and Challenges.

The objectives of this conference is to identifying the challenges faced by the Shafi’i School of Thought in the digital era society, finding solutions if there are conflicts between the interests of Shafi’i thought and the advancements of the digital society era, highlighting the uniqueness and advantages of the Shafi’i School of Thought, which is a legal system suitable for all times and places and remains evergreen and empowering the Shafi’i School of Thought in the digital society era through the perfection, beauty, and principles of the Shafi’i School. The medium used in the International Conference Mazhab Syafi’i is three (3) languages, namely Malay, English, and Arabic. Meanwhile, the language used for the Dialogue on Regional Mazhab Syafi’i Scholars is Malay.
